Today’s gotcha: you cannot run avahi-daemon on a Linux host and in a container at the same time with default settings. Why? avahi-daemon sets default kernel limit rlimit-nproc=3, and starts two processes. This limit is per kernel, not per container/host. So: the second process won’t run and fails with a “chroot.c: fork() failed: Resource temporarily unavailable”. Rather incomprehensible … remedy: increase the number in the settings file.
