80×24 terminals are so small. Can hardly see anything. Hard to imagine I did my first serious programming on 40×24.

Which bank shares no personal info with others? I’d like to become a customer.

Hey @bofa_news, why can’t I “limit this sharing” of my personal info with 4 categories of others? Do you care what your customer wants?

Pro tip: When @lowes offers to cut your @levolor blinds to just the right length with an imposing, expensive, automatic electric machine, run, run, run … run back home to your miter saw, with which you’ll accomplish the same thing, in 10% of the time, not counting the traveling, and without being off by 3/4 in.

Note that the lady was the “more experienced” person in the store (the first guy who tried the cut gave up),. And the imposing, expensive, automatic electric machine was so complicated to use, its user interface consisted of a touch screen with color images of people on it. And a full cover, so nobody could actually touch it when in operation. She was also the one who insisted that I give her the desired measurement down to a 1/16in, which I considered rather unlikely from the get-go. The result was off by 3/4in.

That they have to put imposing, expensive, automatic electric machines into a hardware store is bad enough, if a miter saw suffices for a novice like me. That they then can’t operate. But they will cheerfully give me advise on which miter saw to buy. Words fail me …

“If you already know what recursion is, just remember the answer. Otherwise, find someone who is standing closer to Douglas Hofstadter than you are; then ask him or her what recursion is.” — Andrew Plotkin. Found on http://razor.occams.info/
