Wasted some hours to figure out why debugging a Tomcat web app using NetBeans on Linux running on VirtualBox on the Mac is realllly slooowwww. Enough memory everywhere, right JVM settings …. turns out it is the KDE integration: as soon as NetBeans has deployed the app to Tomcat, by default it starts the system browser to access the root URL of the app. That kills UI performance to make debugging impossible. Instead, if I access using curl is just as snappy as it is supposed to be.
