{"id":357,"date":"2006-12-08T13:09:34","date_gmt":"2006-12-08T21:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/netmesh.info\/jernst\/uncategorized\/google-and-health"},"modified":"2006-12-08T13:09:34","modified_gmt":"2006-12-08T21:09:34","slug":"google-and-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/upon2020.com\/blog\/2006\/12\/google-and-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Google and Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since Adam Bosworth ran around with a business card that said &quot;health&quot; at PC Forum, I&#8217;ve been wondering what he&#8217;s been up to at Google.<\/p>\n<p>Today, finally a somewhat clarifying <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/health-care-information-matters.html\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a>: Google will do something about healthcare, but it&#8217;s not clear yet what exactly.<\/p>\n<p>My gut reaction is two-fold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good: I trust Google a lot more to get out a product that actually works than healthcare software companies whose leading-edge software products are still based on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MUMPS\" target=\"_blank\">MUMPS<\/a>. And even if nothing else ever happens, it will scare up the establishment some, which is a good thing, too.<\/li>\n<li>Cautious: so far, there are many questions about Google&#8217;s commitment to fully safeguarding the privacy of information stored with them, *particularly* from Google itself.
