In praise of my MacBook Pro

LC III’ve owned Macs, continuously, since 1992, when I got an LC II. Even through the dark years when my PowerBook 5300 seemed to be in the shop more often than it was usable.

My most recent MacBook Pro, is undoubtedly the best.

I bought it, while on vacation in Italy, on-line within hours of when it was announced. That was 2 1/2 years ago, and so far, it has performed absolutely marvelously. Ever since I bought it, not once did I feel it didn’t have enough memory, or enough disk space, or I should start looking for a replacement.

Admittedly I bought the top-of-the-line configuration at the time, with 16GB of RAM, and a 2.7GHz Core i7. But as I write this, for example, I’m running 11 desktop apps concurrently on 5 virtual desktops, and two (!) active Linux virtual machines in VirtualBox, with no problems whatsoever. And no feeling the machine somehow is overloaded. This must be the first computer ever where I don’t ever feel like that.

Amazing. Maybe finally, desktop/laptop computing technology is “fast enough”.
