Photos from a Half Dome hike

halfdome-211316-14halfdome-211316-13I’m posting this in 2017, but the actual hike happened probably in the summer of 1996. You can see it from the picture quality!

Wife and I started something like 7:30am, if memory serves, I reached the summit around 3pm, and we were back down in Yosemite valley long after it had gotten dark. If some other hikers with flashlights hadn’t taken us into their group on the way down, it would have been difficult. We’ve been hiking with flash lights ever since.

In the left picture, you see the famous steel cables on which you have to pull yourself up the last stretch of this 15 mi round-trip, 4,800ft elevation gain hike.
