John Perry Barlow on the transformational impact of always-on audio/video

In John Perry Barlow’s new blog, he describes how a left-open, zero-cost Voice-over-IP conversation with Joi Ito in Japan got him to think about the transformational impact of always-on audio/video.

I fully agree: it really provides "tunnels" through the 3 dimensions of physical space, thereby making the world much more complex and more powerful. What he calls CasualSpace, we call ePlaces, but his version of such a shared space is much closer to what we have in mind than, say, what Groove does with a shared space. It’s about making communication and collaboration capabilities ubiquitous.
