House thermostat died. Suggestions for replacements that don’t spy on me?

There are a lot of projects — like the well-publicized “Build an Open-source Nest in a Day” — that have built open-source thermostats. But those are “projects”.

Are there any #IndieIoT thermostat products ready to go that I can buy? Or do I have to build my own?

I’m looking for suggestions.

P.S.: I’m using the term “Indie IoT” to describe an Internet of Things that is developed and operated independently of the big internet overlords. In other words, not Nest and the like that are black boxes tied into somebody else’s cloud and terms of service. I’m looking for something that I can own.

Found HestiaPi. Doesn’t seem to be quite ready yet, but it’s close to what I had in mind. No shipping to the US though. http://www.hestiapi.com/home
